Sheffer Stroke — long-form compositions & sound design for exhibitions

Antonio Gallucci is an Italian electronic music composer and sound designer based in Pistoia. His artistic trajectory bridges electroacoustic research, modular synthesis, and structural minimalism. His compositional approach treats sound as a physical force, where every gesture, micro-frequency, and feedback loop is pared down to its structural essentials.

Active across multiple decades, his work moves fluidly between deep ambient-drone environments, acousmatic explorations, and generative system-based compositions, released via independent underground imprints such as Utech Records, Midira Records and Dinzu Artefacts.

His long-form compositions and sound design for exhibitions are gathered in Sheffer Stroke, his personal archive — the home of series such as Cycle Music and Au | The Shape of Gold.

Cycle Music

2026 — Present · Sheffer Stroke archive
Cycle Music cover artwork

An ongoing series of unoverdubbed live improvisations exploring the structural limits of acoustic processes, duration, and repetition. Each session uses a single instrument as its primary source, entirely improvised in real time as a generative sonic playground that merges feedback loops, modular synthesis, and live effects processing.

Rather than relying on pre-composed arrangements, each track is shaped organically through frequency shifting, phase manipulation, and spectral editing — resulting in a dense, shifting sonic landscape where raw electronic signals and acoustic phenomena constantly fold into one another.

The Stillpoint

Interactive Sound Application · 2026
The Stillpoint interactive sound application artwork

An interactive web application presenting a minimalistic, imaginary landscape where digital tree branches grow and shift in real-time response to frequencies. Dedicated controls for oscillators and field recordings combine generative, aleatoric audio-file management with user manipulation into a hybrid system.

Hope for Nothingness as Something

Dinzu Artefacts · 2026
Hope for Nothingness as Something release cover

A suite in two chapters for modular and FM synthesis, wind and string instruments, electronics, sound objects and field recordings. It starts from written material and the physical presence of the players, then lets both erode: the performances are broken down into fragments of data and reassembled by algorithmic processes that discard their original order, until the music settles in a space that no longer feels real — a reflection on what remains when human intention turns into post-human data.

The title points to a reversal: negation instead of accumulation. Emptiness, usually feared or dismissed, becomes the thing worth hoping for — an absence treated as the most meaningful presence.

A single long-form piece of almost an hour for field recordings, modular synthesizer, piano, electronics and metal objects, created as the sound layer of the permanent archaeological collection of the Museo Civico Città di Solofra.

In the new archaeological section — finds from the Middle Palaeolithic to the Middle Ages, housed in the 14th-century former Convent of Santa Chiara — four speakers set into the ceiling play a composition drawn from the surrounding territory: natural sounds, echoes of the past and musical fragments.
